Made-to-Measure Blackout Blinds in Bolton, Wigan & Chorley

There is nothing quite like a properly dark room for a deep, unbroken sleep. Standard blinds and thin curtains let light creep in around the edges, but a made-to-measure blackout blind is designed to stop light at the window. The specially coated fabric is fully opaque, so nothing passes through it, just calm, restful darkness whenever you want it.

Here at Bespoke Blinds, every blackout blind is made to measure and fitted free of charge by our own installers. We have been measuring and fitting blinds in Bolton, Wigan and Chorley for over 30 years, so whether you are darkening a master bedroom in Horwich, a nursery in Wigan or a loft conversion in Chorley, we will find the right blind for the space and install it properly first time.

Blackout does not mean boring, either. Choose from over 100 fabric designs, from soft neutrals to playful prints, across styles ranging from rollers and Romans to Perfect Fit and motorised. Every blind comes with our 3 year guarantee, and you can spread the cost with Klarna. Book a free appointment and we will bring the samples to your door, or download our brochure to see the range.

Choose Your Style of Blackout Blind

Blackout is a fabric choice, not a single type of blind, which means you can enjoy total darkness in almost any style you like. These are the options our customers ask for most:

  • Blackout roller blinds. Our most popular choice. Simple to use, easy to keep clean and available in the widest range of colours and patterns. For the darkest possible finish, add a cassette and side channels so light cannot slip around the edges of the fabric.
  • Blackout Roman blinds. If you want blackout performance with a softer, more luxurious look, a Roman blind with a blackout lining gives you elegant fabric folds by day and full darkness by night. A lovely choice for master bedrooms.
  • Blackout cellular pleated blinds. The honeycomb structure traps a layer of air at the window, so you get insulation as well as darkness. Ideal for bedrooms that feel cold in winter or too warm on summer mornings.
  • Perfect Fit® blackout blinds. These clip neatly into the frame of uPVC windows and doors with no drilling and no screws. Because the blind sits flush against the glass, there is far less gap for light to sneak through, which makes them a clever option for tilt and turn windows and conservatories.
  • Skylight blackout blinds. Loft bedrooms are wonderful until the sun rises directly overhead at 5am. Our made-to-measure skylight blinds are available in blackout fabrics and fit snugly into the roof window frame.
  • Motorised blackout blinds. Close the whole room at the touch of a button, or set a schedule so the blinds lower automatically at bedtime. With no dangling cords, motorised blinds are also one of the safest options for children’s rooms.

The Right Blackout Blind for Every Room

  • Bedrooms. Streetlights, passing headlights and early summer sunrises are the enemies of a good night’s sleep. In the North West the sun can be up before 5am in June, so a blackout blind earns its keep all summer long. Pair a roller with side channels for near total darkness, or choose a blackout Roman for a more traditional look.
  • Nurseries and children’s rooms. Little ones go to bed while it is still light for much of the year, and a bright room makes settling harder for everyone. A blackout blind helps naps and bedtimes happen on schedule, whatever the sun is doing. We always recommend cordless or motorised options for children’s rooms, and every blind we fit meets current child safety standards.
  • Shift workers. Plenty of our customers across Wigan and Bolton work nights, from NHS staff to warehouse and factory teams, and sleeping through the day is tough in a bright room. A properly fitted blackout blind turns midday into midnight so your body can rest. Tell our advisor you sleep during the day and they will recommend the fittings that block the most light.
  • Living rooms and home cinemas. Blackout is not just for sleeping. If afternoon glare washes out your television or projector screen, a blackout blind lets you create cinema conditions on demand, then flood the room with light again the moment the credits roll.

Blackout Blinds – FAQ

Do blackout blinds block out all of the light?

The fabric itself is completely opaque, so no light passes through the blind. The only place light can appear is around the edges, sometimes called the halo effect. We solve this with cassettes and side channels that seal the gap between the blind and the window recess. Tell us how dark you need the room and our advisor will recommend the right setup at your free home visit.

Yes. We measure and fit blackout blinds across Bolton, Wigan, Chorley and the surrounding towns, including Horwich, Standish, Leigh and Adlington. Measuring and installation are both free.

We recommend cordless or motorised blackout blinds for children’s rooms, so there are no loose cords or chains within reach. Every blind we install meets current child safety standards, and our fitters will position controls safely on the day. See our child safety advice page for more.

Yes. Daylight is the main reason day sleep feels lighter and shorter, and a blackout blind with side channels can make a bedroom feel like the middle of the night at noon. Many of our customers in Wigan, Bolton and Chorley work shifts, so it is a request we know well.

They will. The thick coated fabric adds an extra barrier at the glass, trapping warmth in winter and reflecting heat in summer. If insulation is a priority, ask about our blackout cellular pleated blinds, whose honeycomb pockets are the best insulators in our range. See our energy saving guide for more.

Yes. Perfect Fit blackout blinds clip directly into the beading of uPVC windows and doors with no screws and no drilling, which makes them ideal for conservatories, tilt and turn windows and rented homes.

Most orders are measured, made and professionally fitted in as little as 2 weeks. Fitting itself is quick, and our installers handle everything including removing old blinds if needed. Book your free measure to get started.

A light dust with a dry cloth or a gentle once-over with the soft brush on your vacuum is usually all they need. For marks, use a barely damp sponge with mild soapy water and avoid soaking the coated fabric. Looked after this way, your blinds will stay smart for years, backed by our 3 year guarantee.
